Testimonials widget is not rotating

  1. Are you sure your global settings or widget options limit is not set to `1`? The default is 10. See attached.
  2. Are you positive you're not using `[testimonials]` list shortcode versus `[testimonials_slider]` for the rotation shortcode?
  3. Are you positive you're not using `testimonials()` list theme function versus `testimonials_slider()` for the rotation theme function?
  4. The JavaScript for rotating testimonials is in the footer. As such, your theme requires wp_footer() in the footer. Check to make sure your theme has the <?php wp_footer(); ?> call in footer.php or the equivalent file. You should have some JavaScript like `jQuery('.testimonials-widget-testimonials17')` in your footer.
  5. Is jQuery is included twice? Once by WordPress and again by a theme. Remove the jQuery version included by your theme and you should be fine.
  6. Are there other JavaScript errors? Enable Developer Mode in your browser, right-click on a testimonial, select “Inspect Element”, and then click on the Console tab to review and resolve the JavaScript errors.
  7. Is jQuery running version 1.10+? If not, then your theme is probably overriding WordPress's inclusion. Look to disable your theme's jQuery inclusion like shown.

My Testimonials were rotating perfectly and all of a sudden stopped. I confirmed that #2 is okay above, but not really sure how to go about checking #1. Though that doesn't seem the likely issue since it was working for a few days. Can't figure out what's changed.

Thanks for the quick reply. It's at http://blog.mainstreamcommunications.ca.

It started working again for a bit and now it's stopped again.

Are you using some caching tools I'm not aware of?

Are they rotating when you view with an admin account?

Have you tried turning off plugins one at a time to see if there's a conflict?

I see that flare has some issues. Also, your responsive theme has a bad view port. Ask your designer for help on the later.

Hi - we have a problem with the testimonials not rotating on the homepage (because of the slider pro)  - This is only happening on iphone, ipad and some androids - any ideas how to fix it?

1. A 20 second rotation is a very long time. Unless you have some interactive content, most users are only on a page for 5-20 seconds. As such, users aren't going to see but 1 testimonial.

2. If you deactivate slider pro for the mobile versions, does the rotation work then?

The client kept asking me to make the testimonials stay up longer and longer - I agree no one is going to site there reading thru them all - except the client. He looks at the site on his ipad and brought this to our attention. I can't really deactivate it for mobile versions as this is how he looks at the site. but -if i take the slider off the page the rotation resumes as normal...

Hello,

I have the same problem. The widget was rotating fine and now it isn't. I have other rotating widgets which work fine. Could you check please? My website is www.clearkidneys.com

I have tried to disable the other rotating widgets but nothing changed.

Thanks

Okay I found out what it is. It's apparently in conflict with Woocommerce. Do you have any idea about this? Your input would be greatly appreaciated.

Thanks

I'm having a similar issue where the testimonials are all stacked in the widget instead of rotating.  http://aroseweddingphotographer.com/

I appreciate your help!!!!

@Allison, it's a theme conflict. I would try to find the `bxSlider` JavaScript enqueue in your theme and comment it out.

Hi There,

I love the plug in! I had it working fine on my build site on one server and when I migrated the site to my client's personal server -it's been acting buggy and not rotating like normal.

Originally I only wanted the testimonials on the front page of the web site - but in trying to fix the rotation issue - I turned it on All Pages - and found that it is working fine on some pages and not others.

#1 is not the case - confirmed it's default

#2 - I had Olark code in the footer so I temporarily deleted that but it wasn't causing the issue. Right now this is what is in the footer - and I deleted the second line to see if that would help - and it didn't do anything.

<div id="wp-footer">
    <?php wp_footer(); ?>
    <!-- <?php printf(__('%d queries. %s seconds.', THEME_NS), get_num_queries(), timer_stop(0, 3)); ?> -->
</div>

#4 Following your directions - I checked for errors and this is the only one listed - [19:45:19.555] TypeError: jQuery.easing[jQuery.easing.def] is not a function @ http://www.grayriddance.com/wp-content/plugins/ml-slider/assets/eas...

Which prompted me to turn off the Meta Slider on the Front Page and sure enough that was causing some issue. But these two plug ins were working well together on the live build site?

I am not well versed in Jquery - but is there some way to get these 2 work together on the same page again? Is there a way to alter which one loads first? Or something?

Thank you so much for your help on this - the front page is my main concern and getting the rotation working again.

Colleen

@Colleen, Thank you for the kind words. I appreciate then and the diligence in your report. I've got a hard one for you, did you clear your browser cache? http://www.grayriddance.com/ is working for me.

I'm only showing `http://ad4.liverail.com/rt/?n=_search_magnetic_natgeo_wild&h=24` as 404. See attached.

LOL - I had done that at one point in the beginning of searching for the problem - I swear it wasn't working when I emailed you! After I posted here - I was making some adjustments to some other parts of the site - maybe that forced the issue - and cache - I will still give you the credit for fixing it though. I bet if I hadn't posted I would still be having issues! :)

That 404 is not right - thanks for finding that bogus link - I will have to find out how that got in there....looks spammy to me.

Thank you for "fixing it! Happy Holidays

Michael, great plugin :)

It came with the Circle theme that I'm using and all is well except when I'm not using Chrome to view to testimonials. The rotation would show in IE or Opera and FF

I have seen that thw wp_footer is good, but my knowledge about the jQuery  you mention is zero.

Could you have a look? I have updated to the latest 2.17.0 version

Link is http://bit.ly/1czX8gt

Cheers,

Steffen

Steffen,

That home page testimonials is not Testimonials by Aihrus. It looks like `flexslider testimonials`.

That sounds weird. I make the testimonials within this (see attached screenshot) and they end up on the page. Did you look further down ? It's not the topslide, but just before the footer

Steffen, I was looking at the home page "Customer Reference" which is via `flexslider testimonials. I didn't dig deeper into your website.

Steffens, it's possible that I'm not seeing what you're seeing. Could you please screenshot what exactly is not rotating?

Hi Michael,

If i'm mistaken then sorry, but it really looks like your plugin :)

I've attached the whole page as seen on http://bit.ly/1dV4du8 (shorlink) The testmonial is called Customer Reference on my site.

Steffen, offering free support takes quite a bit of effort. Further, there's so many variations of themes and plugins that exist it's impossible to know the interactions of them. Given that, when requests like yours comes in and soaks up my time, it takes away from helping others and improving the free and open source software that I create and work with.

When my responses are ignored and then they're demeaned by a reply, it becomes a moment in which I question whether or not I should continue offering free support. It's gotten so bad, that I even written a blog post about it at https://aihr.us/wordpress/problematic-users-keep-coding-vent/.

Please understand, I don't work with just a few people, but 1,000s. As such, I have to draw the line somehow and that's usually theme issues.

I love helping people, but if they don't relax, think about what's been provided for them, and in turn help themselves; it becomes a waste of precious time for all of us.

So… for the third time, the Customer Reference section is not produced by Testimonials by Aihrus. It's some flexslider testimonials thing. I can tell because, the source code for Testimonials by Aihrus contains `testimonials-widget` class identifiers and such. See attached.

Hi Michael!

First of all...I LOVE the plugin.  I am new to WordPress with no dev background.  This plugin is easy to use, thanks for the hard work.

I am however, having an issue with the rotation speed.  I have it set at 10 seconds, yet it seems to be rotating at 4.  Would you have any suggestions on how I might resolve the issue?

Thanks in advance for the help!

I am having trouble getting the testimonials to rotate for some reason.  The test page is set up here: http://www.aaexs.com/home-test/

Can anyone take a look at the code and provide assistance? Thanks in advance!
